Lets talk about the most important online directories for you with an HVAC contractor. It used to be that you could buy a large yellow page ad. You showed up most of the time with someone who looks for what you are doing. The reality is there has been a transition. Now people are going online. A lot of people are going to Google. Some people are going to Bing and Yahoo. Then there's people who are going to online directories like Angie's List, Judy's Book, and Citysearch. I just wanted to share real quick our experience with some of these online directories, and the ones that tend to be driving the best return on investment for our clients.
What we found is Angie's List is a tremendous online directory for local businesses, especially for HVAC and plumbing contractors, because the type of customers that you want isn't probably going to be the price-conscious shopper, it's going to be somebody that's looking for a quality contractor that can come out, be on time, be clean, do a good job, and so they actually pay a premium to get a list of those contractors as they join Angie's List. And so having the premium placement on Angie's List, getting that solid reviews on Angie's List has proven to be a great strategy for getting quality customers to your business that will refer you to others, and tend to be pretty good customers.
Another directory that is pretty authoritative in the AC and HVAC business is Yelp.com, and so that's another one you would want to consider, and potentially CitySearch.com. Those are the three big ones. Obviously you've got your lead-acquisition services like ServiceMagic and eLocalPlumbers as a way to pay-per-lead and get opportunities for your business, but the one I see drive the best results for some of our biggest clients throughout the United States is Angie's List, definitely drives the best return investment, if you run a good business, if you tend to get good reviews from your customers.
